(HELENA) Lt. Governor John Bohlinger is traveling to Washington, DC on Thursday to attend the Dedication of the National Marine Corps Heritage Museum.
The dedication ceremony will take place on Friday, November 10th, 2006, which is also the Marine Corps' 231st Birthday. Invited guests include the President of the United States, Cabinet members, all living former Commandants of the Marine Corps, and Marine delegations from fifty states.
Since early spring, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor has been collecting the names of Montana Marines; past, present and deceased to take back to Washington DC. The Marines' names will be added to a state roll call in the museum. This is an ongoing project. Marines or relatives of Marines may contact the office at anytime and submit information. Information can be submitted to Jackie Williams at 444-3111. The Lt. Governor will also attend the annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball that evening. "As a Marine, I am grateful for the opportunity to attend these events on behalf of the people of Montana," said Bohlinger. "Veterans Day is a time to honor the sacrifices that been made on behalf of our great country by generations of American servicemen and women." On November 11, the Lt. Governor will participate in a Veterans Day Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to honor fallen soldiers and their families.
