Mt Medal of Valor Award Application Deadline Extended

(Helena)--Due to a small number of responses, Governor Marc Racicot's selection committee for the Montana Medal of Valor Awards has extended its application deadline to March 31, 2000.

To be eligible for the 1999 Montana Medal of Valor, nominees must be residents of the State of Montana who, at risk of death or injury, endeavored to save others from a life-threatening situation during calendar year 1999.

To apply, submit the name/names of the people involved in saving another's life at the peril of their own, along with a written description of the incident. Names and phone numbers of witnesses are necessary. Newspaper articles, law enforcement or emergency response teams' accounts or any additional information that can be provided would be helpful.

The 1999 Montana Medal of Valor Award ceremony will take place in June in Helena. Governor Racicot will present the medals. Recipients unable to attend the ceremony may have the award presented by Gov. Racicot at a later date in their hometown.
