Executive OrderExecutive Order Creating The Governor's Standing Committee For Inmate ProjectionsWHEREAS, adequate and secure placement and supervision of the corrections offender population is critical to the public safety of the citizenry of Montana; and WHEREAS, estimates of future correctional populations constitute a critical element of effective planning; and WHEREAS, these estimates are used by the executive and legislature in budgeting of tax dollars to provide for proper corrections population management; and WHEREAS, there is a need for an expanded correctional projections model that provides the legislature and corrections officials information on classification and housing needs of future corrections populations. NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARC RACICOT, Governor of the State of Montana, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby establish an Advisory Committee to the Department of Corrections for Offender Population Projections. I. PURPOSE The Committee for Offender Population Projections shall:

COMPOSITION The Committee for Inmate Projections shall be composed of not more than fifteen members, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor, including representatives from the following: Governor's Budget Office, Board of Crime Control, the Judiciary, County Prosecutors, Law Enforcement, the Montana Legislature, Adult Parole and Probation, the Board of Pardons and Parole, Juvenile Probation, the Montana University System, the public at large, and the Department of Corrections. The Governor shall appoint the Chairman, and the names and addresses of the members are submitted by separate letter to the Secretary of State and the Department of Corrections. II. DURATION This Committee shall exist for two years from the effective date of this Order unless terminated by subsequent Executive Order. This Order is effective immediately.
