(Helena)--Governor Marc Racicot's selection committee for the Montana Medal of Valor Awards is requesting that applications for calendar year 1998 be submitted to the Governor's Office by May 31, 1999. The Montana Medal of Valor Awards are sponsored by the Montana Newspaper Association.
To be eligible for the 1998 Montana Medal of Valor, nominees must be residents of the State of Montana who, at risk of death or injury, endeavored to save others from a life-threatening situation during calendar year 1998.
To apply, submit the name/names of the people involved in saving another's life at the peril of their own, along with a written description of the incident. Names and phone numbers of witnesses are necessary. Newspaper articles, law enforcement or emergency response team’s accounts or any additional information that can be provided would be helpful.
The 1998 Montana Medal of Valor Award ceremony will take place later this summer in Medal of Valor Awards Helena. Governor Racicot will present the medals. Recipients unable to attend the ceremony can have the award presented by Gov. Racicot at a later date in their hometown.
