Gov. MARC RACICOT announced today receipt of a $10,000 donation to the Mike Mansfield Statue Fund from Goldman, Sachs & Co., the investment banking firm based in New York City.
The donation was sent on behalf of the firm by Henry M. Paulson Jr., co-chairman and chief executive officer of Goldman, Sachs, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Mike Mansfield joining Goldman, Sachs as a senior advisor after a long, distinguished career in Congress and as U.S. Ambassador to Japan.
Gov. RACICOT expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Paulson and Goldman, Sachs and announced that the Statue Fund now stood just below $15,000 of the estimated $80,000 cost. According to the Governor's proposal, the statue will stand in the renovated State Capitol Building along with an existing lifesize statue of Jeannette Rankin, another Montanan and the first woman elected to Congress.
Individuals and organizations wishing to make tax-deductible donations to the project can send their donations to: Gov. MARC RACICOT, Mike Mansfield Statue Fund, Helena MT 59620.
