(HELENA)-Montanans with questions or concerns about the investigation of possible asbestos contamination at a former vermiculite mine near Libby can call the Governor's Citizens' Advocate Office for assistance. The Advocates will put an expert on the asbestos issue in touch with each caller. Interested individuals will be able to get information on issues such as: testing results, screening information, public meeting schedules, and federal legislation.
To reach the Citizens' Advocate, dial 1-800-332-2272 toll-free. Hearing impaired individuals may call the Montana Relay Service 1-800-253-4093 (voice) , or 1-800-253-4091 (TDD).
Governor Marc Racicot said, "I encourage Montanans with questions to call our Citizens' Advocates. They are experienced in dealing with a variety of issues, and will be sure callers get the personal attention they need in a timely manner."
The Governor's Citizens' Advocate Office was established in 1973 to provide Montanans with information about and referral to state government agencies. They can be reached at the numbers listed above from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
