GOVERNOR RACICOT APPOINTS NEW REGENT

(Helena)--Governor Marc Racicot announced today he has appointed Deborah Wetsit of Billings to the Montana Board of Regents to complete the term of former regent Colleen Conroy, who resigned from the board in March due to health reasons. Ms. Wetsit is from Billings, where she is employed by the Shared Visions Project: Circles of Care.

"Deborah has a wealth of experience and insight in dealing with higher education issues which will be very valuable to the Board of Regents and the State of Montana," Governor Racicot said.

Ms. Wetsit received her bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the University of Montana in 1978 and her M. Ed. degree in adult and higher education from Montana State University in 1981. Ms. Wetsit went on to earn her doctorate in guidance and counseling from the University of Montana in 1992.

Over the past several years, Ms. Wetsit has worked in several professional capacities within the field of higher education, including service as an assistant professor at the University of Montana, the Dean of Instruction at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas, and as a state and national leader for issues related to Indian Education.

Ms. Wetsit’s term of appointment will be two years.
